Meet the makers!

We are Quercus Pottery, a small pottery brand based in the heart of Yorkshire, where we spend our days covered in clay, crafting handmade ceramics inspired by the surrounding nature.

It all started as a hobby, something wholesome to do indoors when the English weather was quite moody and we weren’t out hiking, birdwatching, or getting lost (intentionally) while geocaching.

Everything we make is shaped by hand for now. No potter’s wheel here (yet)! Just good patience, skill, and a willingness to embrace the occasional wonky edge. Each piece is designed, sculpted, carved, painted, and glazed in our cosy home studio, making every item unique and full of character.

Pottery is a craft steeped in history, knowledge, and endless possibilities, and we love every messy, joyful moment of it. So, whether you’re here for a beautifully imperfect mug or just a peek into our clay-covered world, we’re chuffed to have you along for the journey, your support means the world (and helps justify our ever-growing collection of pottery tools).

We made Yorkshire our home over a decade ago and haven’t looked back. Our brand name, Quercus, comes from the Latin for “oak”—a nod to our surname and our deep-rooted love for nature.

We met at university while studying Hospitality, Leisure & Tourism, though back then, we were more focused on backpacking across Europe, hitchhiking our way into unforgettable experiences, and bonding over our love for good food and cultural quirks. Fast forward 15 years, and while our adventures are now more clay-covered than continent-hopping, we’re still fuelled by the same passion for craftsmanship and creativity.

One day, we’d love to swap our little home studio for a farmhouse, complete with a barn full of goats, donkeys, and pigs, plus a few dogs of our favourite breeds—Cardigan Corgi, Bull Terrier, and Irish Wolfhound (because why not dream big?).

For now, we’re simply enjoying the journey—crafting pottery by hand, embracing the imperfections, and sharing our love for the art with fellow nature lovers, travellers, and food enthusiasts. We’re working towards turning this passion into a full-time pursuit, one hand-built piece at a time. Thanks for stopping by and being part of our story!
